Health Promotion (at the University of Greifswald)
Under the umbrella of “Health Promotion” are the two pillars of Workplace Health Management (BGM), which targets employees, and Student Health Management (SGM), which focuses on students.
Thanks to the competencies of our internal staff and counselling offices, online courses, such as those offered by University Sports, and the services provided by our cooperation partners, a wide range of support is available to promote the health and well-being of all members of the university community. On this page, you will find a comprehensive overview of health-related services and information.
Vision
Our vision is to establish a structured, lasting and comprehensive university health management system
- which takes into account all university members and includes their participation,
- which incorporates the topic of health in the sense of well-being as a cross-sectional topic and relevant target variable in the mission statement as well as in the culture of the university,
- whilst adhering to the 10 quality criteria for health-promoting universities
- and operating on the basis of verifiable analyses.

‘In the flow’

As part of the second project funded by the TK (SING+), we will further expand the health management programme at the University of Greifswald and, as part of a holistic approach, integrate the two areas of BGM and SGM more closely. In doing so, we will take the various dimensions of health into account and further embed health as a ‘cross-cutting issue’ in collaboration with other relevant internal and external partners.
The basis for this is the student survey conducted during the last project period, the initial measures evaluated in both areas, and feedback from central bodies such as the workplace doctor or the AStA.
A steering committee will coordinate the individual steps and oversee their implementation under academic supervision. The aim is to address high demands at work and during studies at an early stage through structural measures and to tackle overload situations with appropriate interventions.
This approach is also being integrated into the state’s One Health Initiative and expanded in line with sustainability principles.
