Käthe Kluth junior research programme

Through the Käthe Kluth Junior Research Group, the University of Greifswald offers exceptionally qualified female researchers in the early postdoctoral phase the opportunity to further distinguish themselves by independently leading a group, to increase the visibility of their research output and, in doing so, to actively advance their academic careers.

Coaching

New roles, new responsibilities, new challenges: career changes offer great opportunities, but often bring with them questions or uncertainties. Professional coaching helps you to take on leadership roles with confidence and resilience, or to settle into a new area of responsibility. In a confidential setting, you can reflect on the current challenges facing your work situation and your career. The aim of the coaching is to work together to develop individual strategies and courses of action tailored to your situation. The Equality Office offers you financial support and, if required, assistance in finding a suitable coach.

Gender Prize

The Rector’s Office and the Gender Equality Officer at the University of Greifswald award the annual Gender Prize for outstanding academic or artistic work that takes the gender perspective into account in a particularly significant way. The prize money amounts to 500 euros.

KarriereWegeMentoring

Mentoring is a successful and effective tool for staff development, which enhances the potential of highly qualified early-career female researchers and contributes to equal opportunities. It encourages participants to plan and pursue their own career paths in a targeted manner. Furthermore, mentoring improves prospects for entering the workforce and advancing one’s career, facilitates career-enhancing contacts and enables participants to build their own professional networks.

Student equality projects

The Central Gender Equality Office at the University of Greifswald has set up a fund to support student projects that contribute to the promotion of gender equality. Students from all degree programmes at the University of Greifswald are eligible to apply, either individually or collectively (as a project group, university group or student representative council).

Programme for Female Professors

In 2018, the University of Greifswald was the only higher education institution in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to successfully apply for funding under the first call for proposals for the Women Professors Programme III, organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the federal states. The aim of the Female Professors Programme III is to support gender equality in higher education, to bring about a lasting improvement in the representation of women at all qualification levels within the academic system, and to increase the number of female academics in senior positions. Following the first appointments of three women, the federal government has been providing pro-rata start-up funding for these three tenured professorships for a period of five years since 2019. The state funds made available as a result of the BMBF’s funding of the professorships during the funding period from 2019 to 2024, as well as additional funds provided by the University of Greifswald itself, will be used for measures to promote gender equality.

Applications for collaborations and projects with the IZfG may be submitted at any time. However, please note that incorporating events into our collaboration years requires a certain amount of lead time.

Lydia Student Prize

The Faculty of Theology is offering a prize to be awarded for term papers, examination papers or dissertations that take particular account of the gender perspective. The aim of this call for entries is to encourage engagement with issues relating to gender studies across all areas of theological scholarship. Submitted papers may cover topics arising from course modules as well as topics chosen freely by the authors.
Gollwitzer-Meier Scholarship

Gollwitzer-Meier Scholarship

Gollwitzer-Meier scholarships are awarded to exceptionally qualified early-career female researchers at Greifswald University Hospital who have children under the age of 18, with the aim of supporting their research work and thereby increasing the number of female postdoctoral researchers and female professors.
