University Exchange Programme

Our international partnerships at both the university and institute levels offer attractive opportunities for you to study outside Europe. Our university exchange programme includes host universities located around the world.

The Benefits of the University Exchange Programme

  • Exchange students do not have to pay tuition fees (in most cases)

  • Help in organising an exchange placement is provided by both the home and host universities

  • Recognition of academic credits[de] earned at the host university is set out in the student’s learning agreement

Exchange Places

In our exchange programme database[de] you can look for exchange places within the framework of our contracts. In addition to experience reports, you will also find information on:

  • Application and language requirements
  • Course catalogs
  • Housing and support program
  • Number of exchange places

Please note that...

... a place received through the University Exchange Program does not mean that you will automatically receive a scholarship. However, you can indicate in the application document that you would also like to apply for the PROMOS scholarship. As these are the same application documents, the documents from the application for the university exchange will then be included in the PROMOS award. You therefore do not need to send your application documents twice. Please note that there is a different application deadline for PROMOS, which is why the scholarship is awarded later than for the university exchange places.

Further information on the PROMOS scholarship can be found under Funding opportunities. There you will also find information on other funding options such as BAföG abroad.

Testimonial Mareike Rupaner

"Unique experiences and adventures always spur me on to new things and activities. My time at university is extremely limited and I really want to make the most of it. That's why a semester abroad is always part of it for me. And so I began my journey to the impressive Saskatchewan. The prairie province in the heart of Canada."
(Mareike, university exchange semester in Canada)

She and other outgoers talk about their experiences abroad in our blog Greifswald goes International [de] and in our Podcast [de].
