Erasmus+ Funding for Visiting Academics
Would you like to teach in another European country and strengthen international partnerships?
The Erasmus+ programme enables staff at the University of Greifswald to undertake funded short-term stays at European partner universities. Funding is provided through the Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA) programme strand. Please check our database [de]for existing partnerships within your department.
Objectives and framework conditions
Staff mobility for teaching purposes offers lecturers at the University of Greifswald the opportunity to develop their subject-specific, linguistic and intercultural skills in an international context.
Under the Erasmus+ programme, you can teach as a visiting lecturer at European partner universities. The aim of the funding is to strengthen the internationalisation of teaching, intensify academic exchange within the European Higher Education Area and further develop existing partnerships.
A visiting lectureship offers you the opportunity to
- contribute your subject-specific expertise to an international environment,
- discover new teaching methods and perspectives,
- expand international collaborations,
- provide students at the host university with international insights, and
- introduce Greifswald students to international experiences as part of ‘Internationalisation @home’.
General conditions:
- Funding for teaching mobility at European partner universities with existing Erasmus+ agreements
- Duration of stay: minimum 2 days, maximum 2 months (excluding travel time)

“A stay abroad as a guest lecturer provides you with the opportunity to experience teaching in a different way and to meet local students. You will network with colleagues and get to know a new country, which is not always that easily done. Usually, one has to deal with bureaucratic obstacles. This is not the case with Erasmus+.” (Nadine O´Shea, research assistant at the Chair of International Relationships and Regional Studies, guest-lectureship at the University West in Trollhättan, Sweden)
