Predictors and Biomarkers of Chronic Postsurgical Pain: Translating Evidence into Clinical Care

Veranstaltung der UMG

On November 4, 2026 Prof. Dr. Sascha Tafelski will give his inaugural lecture as part of the Late Lunch Seminars on the topic of "Predictors and Biomarkers of Chronic Postsurgical Pain: Translating Evidence into Clinical Care".

Why some patients recover uneventfully after surgery, whereas others develop persistent and disabling chronic pain, remains an important clinical and scientific question. Prof. Tafelski's presentation examines the contribution of preoperative vulnerability, acute postoperative pain, psychological factors, and perioperative characteristics to the transition from acute to chronic pain. It further explores how clinical predictors, biomarkers and proteomic signatures may be integrated to improve risk stratification and support individualized strategies for the prevention and treatment of chronic postsurgical pain.

The Late Lunch Seminars, the Medical Faculty’s scientific lecture series, aim to promote networking across a wide range of research topics. The talks include presentations from local scientists and external project partners as well as inaugural lectures by newly appointed professors. The lectures are primarily aimed at the scientific staff of University Medicine, the University and non-university research institutions in Greifswald.

The talk is open to the university public and will be held in English. Registration is not required.
