On June 17, 2026 Prof. Florian Kronenberger will give a lecture as part of the Late Lunch Seminars on "Lipoprotein(a) – From Genetics to Therapy".
Prof. Kronenberg‘s research focuses on genetic and clinical epidemiological studies on lipoprotein(a) as well as the genetics of complex diseases such as atherosclerosis, lipid disorders, kidney diseases, and diabetes mellitus.
Lipoprotein(a) is clearly the next target to fight cardiovascular disease. Prof. Kronenberg‘s lecture will cover the genetic basis which finally made us believe that Lp(a) is a causal risk factor and an interesting drug target. These insights resulted in the development of various potent Lp(a)-lowering drugs which are currently being examined in phase 3 clinical trials. The first one will be reporting this year.
The Late Lunch Seminars, the Medical Faculty’s scientific lecture series, aim to promote networking across a wide range of research topics. The talks include presentations from local scientists and external project partners as well as inaugural lectures by newly appointed professors. The lectures are primarily aimed at the scientific staff of University Medicine, the University and non-university research institutions in Greifswald.
The talk is open to the university public and will be held in English. Registration is not required.
