On May 13, 2026 Prof. Stefan Zwingenberger will give his inaugural lecture as part of the Late Lunch Seminars on the topic of "Rethinking Spinal Fusion: Translational Innovation in Spine Therapy".
Against the backdrop of the growing global burden of spinal instability, Prof. Zwingenberger's lecture challenges current paradigms of spinal fusion by addressing persistent limitations in bone healing and patient recovery. It explores cutting-edge translational strategies—including next-generation bone graft substitutes, biologically driven therapies, and minimally invasive approaches—that have the potential to transform spinal fusion into a faster, safer, and more effective treatment.
The Late Lunch Seminars, the Medical Faculty’s scientific lecture series, aim to promote networking across a wide range of research topics. The talks include presentations from local scientists and external project partners as well as inaugural lectures by newly appointed professors. The lectures are primarily aimed at the scientific staff of University Medicine, the University and non-university research institutions in Greifswald.
The talk is open to the university public and will be held in English. Registration is not required.
