This lecture will consider various philosophical questions related to clothing. For example: Can clothing be art? How do we communicate with clothing? How are Enlightenment philosophers relevant to developments in children’s clothing? The discussion will consider examples of clothing that illustrate these areas of inquiry.
Kate Moran is Associate Professor of philosophy at Brandeis University. Along with Jens Timmermann, she was a senior fellow at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald in 2020/2021. She is the author of Kant’s Ethics (2022), Community and Progress in Kant’s Moral Philosophy (2012), and numerous essays on Kant’s moral and political philosophy.
